Jung and Film Online | Good Luck to You, Leo Grande

You are warmly invited to attend our next film evening on Friday 9 June: Good Luck to You, Leo Grande (run time: 1 hr 37 minutes).   This is a riveting 2022 film directed by Sophie Hyde and written by Katy Brand. Nancy Stokes (Emma Thompson, in an unforgettable performance), retired and recently widowed, desperately unhappy, and at the limit of her ability to endure her own unhappiness, yearns for some passion in her life.  She decides to expand her erotic/sexual horizons – and hires an escort, Leo Grande (Daryl McCormack, brilliant newcomer), to explore her unlived sex life. What happens between them is, of course, sexual, but so much else occurs – fascinating philosophical territory opens, where things like intimacy, aging, and the importance of sexual pleasure, whether with yourself or with someone else, enter the room.  In the context of their four hilarious and serious encounters, both Nancy and Leo undergo a process of self-acceptance and transformation. It is a comedy that is extremely tastefully presented- and with many thoughtful undertones. Online Participation Format We will be sharing the movie with you online on the evening.
